As we’ve mentioned previously, the next several weeks are going to be critical for the forthcoming COVID-19 legislative response package. This may be the last COVID relief bill before the fall, and lawmakers on Capitol Hill are trying to sort out competing priorities as stakeholders from every sector seek attention. We need to ensure they hear from the millions of senior living residents, family members, staff, and other advocates on the need for priority PPE and testing, financial relief, and vaccine priority as soon as one is approved.
That’s why this week we are re-launching our grassroots advocacy campaign, Standing With Seniors, with refreshed messages reflecting the needs of senior living communities. Tens of thousands of senior living advocates have already participated in the campaign, helping to advance our priorities in the House-passed HEROES Act. And while we continue to make progress educating lawmakers on the needs of senior living communities, we know that as a final compromise bill is crafted, lawmakers will be looking to hear from constituents who can help share with them the on-the-ground needs locally in their communities.
Taking part in these campaigns only takes a few minutes. Participants only need to enter their contact information to match with their lawmakers and click “send message.” These campaigns are mobile-friendly, so you may consider asking your community members to take action from tablets, cell phones, or other devices. Even if someone has participated previously, they can still take part in this campaign by sending this new revised letter to Congress.
We need our voices to be heard in every Congressional office and that will take active participation from all senior living operators, communities, and advocates across the country. Please take a few minutes to share this campaign by directing those in your communities to standingwithseniors.com/help/, or by sharing the links below.
Thank you in advance for your support in this important effort.
