Vaccination Plan for new employees/residents in LTC

The Pennsylvania Department of Health announced a strategy to facilitate ongoing COVID-19 vaccinations for residents and staff of long-term care facilities. This strategy applies to facilities operating outside of Philadelphia, and more information about Philadelphia’s vaccine programs can be found on Philadelphia’s COVID-19 website at https://vax.phila.gov/index.php/covid-19/

Ongoing COVID-19 vaccinations will be coordinated through the Federal Pharmacy Partnership (FPP) for Long-Term Care Program. Facilities will work with eligible long-term care pharmacies who will then coordinate with FPP partners that administer vaccines locally. These partners are CVS/Omnicare and three Group Purchasing Organizations: GeriMed, Innovatix, and Managed Health Care Associates, Inc.

Long-term care pharmacies will be required to sign the CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program Provider Agreement for Pharmacies Serving Long-Term Care Facilities, which they can obtain through the FPP partner. There is no facility criteria for this strategy as there was with the first phase of the FPP, and long-term care pharmacies may work with any long-term and congregate care facility.

More information on this strategy is available from the Department of Health.

As time goes on, there may be new residents admitted or staff who are new hires or decide that they now want a COVID-19 vaccine. We strongly encourage you to use this option to help facilitate vaccinations so we can continue to make progress in this fight against COVID-19.
